Modern society excessively relies on the development of scientific innovation and technology. As we learn from COVID-19 pandemic, scientific research breakthrough is proven to be the key to solve various challenges in human civilization. Indonesia, as a developing country, has aimed to reform and accelerate the development of research and technology. One of the strategy is by increasing research interest among the young generation through financial and academic support. This is especially important for future women scientists, who are currently not as well supported compared to men. Less than 30% STEM graduates are women. In 2017, women scientists in Indonesia were only 35% of the total registered scientists (according to LIPI database). The lack of women participation in science and technology is rooted in the limited study choice thus further limiting the career choice. To increase research interest among future female scientists, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) will hold a research proposal competition and a series of seminars to inspire and empower future female scientists among high school and undergraduate students. UPH, as one of the best private university in Indonesia, actively support the development of scientific knowledge and research skills through our faculties. The Faculty of Science and Technology was one of the first founded faculties in UPH. Over the years, the Faculty of Science and Technology has diversified into various science faculties such as the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Science, and Faculty of Education in Science. UPH also has a good collaboration with numerous universities in Indonesia and overseas. Therefore, through this event we hope to ignite the passion for science, especially among female students.
